Chapter 1 - Part of the Family

Chapter 1.1 - A Single Maiden

She ran as fast as she could through the dark woods. She was terrified, not of the shadows that seemed to jump out at her, but of the figure that chased her. Her red cloak hooked branches as she ran, but she continued to pull away. Though, she finally was caught by a tangle of branches that refused to let go, so she pulled the cloak off and kept running.
Rain continued to pour down as lightning lit up the dark sky. Her hair hung wet in her face and her clothes were torn and dirtied as she hurried through thick bushes and tall grasses. She even fell into waist deep swamp water. She waded quickly to the other side and hurried on.
She gasped as she lost her footing and slide down a very steep hillside. She saw the cliff at the bottom and managed to grab a branch. She looked down to see a terrible fall into a river that turned rapid from all the pouring rain. Water poured down the hillside to her, threatening to cause her wet hands to slip.
The figure stood above the steep slop, watching her. They chuckled darkly in a man's voice, "Thank you so much for making this easy." He laughed as he turned and walked away.
The girl was so afraid as her grip started to lessen. She knew even if she cried for help, no one would hear her. Those woods were empty of any people. After all, who would dare enter the Forest of Beasts?
She gasped in fright as her hands slipped a bit, bringing her closer to her deadly fall. Tears escaped her eyes as she tried to find a way back up, but there was nothing and everything was muddy and wet. There was no hope of escape.
Her hand slipped, this time losing any grip on the branch. Her scream echoed as she fell towards the rocky, rushing river below. The figure only laughed at the sound as he continued on.

The maiden was gone.

Further into the forest, a tall dark castle stood on it's own large grounds. Inside one of the several towers, this one being the tallest, a boy woke with a start at the echo of a scream. He blinked his bright baby-blue eyes as he looked out his window, which was just next to his bed and was open to let in the soft breeze.
He quickly climbed out of bed, his baggy clothes and hood were obvious hand-me-downs from someone several years older. He hurried over to one of the two other beds in the small, circular room. He shook the person, "Canice. Canice, wake up."
The figure was a young man in maybe his late teens to early twenties. His short black hair was in a spiked mess and his pale blue eyes were groggy, but he still had a very handsome face. He rubbed his eyes, "What is it, Calvin? Nightmare?"
Calvin looked worried, "Canice, I heard something outside. I think I heard a scream."
Canice sat up with a yawn, "A scream? You sure you didn't just dream it?"
Calvin nodded, "I really did hear someone scream. It came from the woods. I think someone is in trouble." He looked a little crestfallen, "You do believe me, don't you?"
Canice sighed and tossed off his blankets, revealing his red dragon wings and tail. There were even short black horns peeking out from his hair. All three of which matched Calvin's perfectly, if not a little bigger. Canice spoke softly, "Of course, I believe you. Give me a sec and we can go take a look, ok?"
Calvin smiled, "I'll go wake Cephas!"
Canice gasped and quickly grabbed Calvin, "Now there's no need to go digging a grave, kid. You know Cephas doesn't think straight when you wake him out of sleep. We'll go ourselves, ok?"
Calvin nodded as he glanced over at the third bed on the room where a third figure was fast asleep, "Oh, ok."
Canice climbed out of bed, pulled on a pair of boots, and joined Calvin by doors to the small balcony. Calvin few into the air and Canice followed, heading out towards where Calvin heard the scream.
Canice yawned, still quite tired as he flew, "So, what kind of scream did you hear? A girl? A guy? A child?"
Calvin looked over the forest as they flew, "It sounded like a girl. She sounded really scared."
Canice scratched his head, "Maybe a girl got lost and ran into one of the beasts out here. It wouldn't be the first time."
Calvin shrugged, "I guess, but someone still should help her back home, right?"
Canice sighed with a tired smile, "You're a good Dragon-Breed, kiddo." Calvin smiled at him and continued to fly ahead.
Canice looked over the swamp below, "Boy, would it suck if she stepped in the marshes and sank. Though perhaps one of the beasts found her. That's usually it. If you only heard the last of her scream, she's probably already..." He noticed the horrified look he got from Calvin. He raised his hands to surrender, "Sorry, I'm still tired. I'm not thinking straight. If I talk, just ignore me." Calvin sighed and continued on.
Canice was about to follow, but something caught his eye. A bright red object caught in a tangle of branches. He stopped, "Hey, Calvin..."
Calvin sighed, "You said ignore you, Canice."
Canice caught Calvin's wing and pulled him back, "No, look." He pointed at the red object and they flew over to it.
Canice landed and pulled it from the trees, "Its a cloak. Definitely a girl's. A girl was through here alright."
Calvin looked around, "But where is she now?"
Canice looked at the muddy ground, "I see her tracks. We can follow that."
Calvin looked too, but the leaves, rain, and mud made nothing but a big mess to him, "I guess I still can't track that well. You'll have to lead." Canice followed the prints and Calvin followed him.
The two walked for some time through the woods. As they walked, Canice spoke, "Looks like she was being chased. I was probably right about her running into one of the beasts."
Calvin adjusted his large hood, "Can you see tracks to tell you which one?"
Canice looked and was surprised, "That's strange."
Calvin looked, "What? What's strange?"
Canice stopped and went down next to a couple, "These tracks aren't like any of the beasts we know about in these woods. From the looks of it, its two legged with long, sharp claws. Not very tall from how close each step is and by the size of the print. About my height actually." He straightened up, "I wonder what it could have been."
Calvin sighed, "Well, we can ask Connery about it later. Right now, we need to help that girl." Canice nodded and led the way onward.
It was only a bit longer before Canice spotted the last print, "Uh oh." He looked down the steep slope, "Oh boy."
Calvin looked horrified, "Please don't tell me she..." Canice didn't say anything.
He flew off over the cliff to see if there was any sign of the girl. None what-so-ever. He looked back at Calvin, "Fly up high and wait for me. I'll be right back." With that, he flew off along the river.
He kept his eyes open as he scanned the rushing waters carefully. Tall, sharp rocks made the journey through the river a very deadly one. If you didn't drown, you would surely be slowly beaten to death hitting those rocks.
He sighed, "I feel for the poor thing that ended up in this mess."
He jumped in fright, almost falling out of the air, as lightning struck a nearby tree. He took a deep breath and exhaled, "Talk about scary. Good thing it wasn't Carlos out here with me."
Then he noticed something below. He gasped and flew down to the figure laying against the large rocks, only moved by the waters that washed it up there.
He landed and looked over the girl with great pity, "Poor thing." He went down next to her mangled body and checked for any life.
He sighed as he felt a very faint heartbeat. He looked her over, "I almost feel sorry you hadn't died from that fall." He carefully lifted her into his arms, careful not to make the damage worse, then flew off back towards Calvin.
Calvin saw him flying over, "You found he..." He gasped as he saw the blood. Canice held her so most of the wounds were hidden from the young boy. He also hid where her clothes had torn apart and revealed her body.
Canice spoke, "Come on. If we're quick, maybe we can still save her." He flew ahead quickly and Calvin followed.

Chapter 1.2 - 12 Dragon-Breeds

It was days later when the maiden's eyes fluttered open. She blinked to clear the blurred vision until everything was clear. She was surprised to find a figure standing over her.
She was about to sit up, but the figure spoke, "Don't." She stopped, looking him over. His voice was gentle and calm, which soothed her and made her feel inclined to obey. She laid back down, but continued to watch him.
He was a young man with short white hair and eyes of a very pale purple. He wore a blue cape with a large hood over his head and white robes underneathe. He had an air of power to him that enchanted her. She was also amazed by the black dragon wings from his back and long matching dragon tail.
He continued to wrap her leg, which was all that was removed from beneathe large blankets. She was surprised that she could barely feel it. It was almost entirely numb at that moment.
She opened her mouth to speak, but was surprised when barely a whisper could make its way out. It even caused her to cough, making it clear to her how painfully hoarse and dry her throat felt. It stung as she tried to swollow.
He glanced at her, noticing all this only too well. He picked up a glass of water from the night stand next to the bed. He spoke in that calm voice, "Try to sit up, but let me help you. You don't want to strain yourself." She did as she was told and let him help her sit up.
Once she was up right, though still laying back against a large, fluffy pillow, he handed her the glass. She drank the water quickly, realising how thirsty she was. It greatly improved her throat.
She managed to speak, even though her voice was still weak and quiet, "Thank you." She let him take the glass and sit it on the nightstand next to the bed.
He turned back to her leg, "Your welcome. Does anything else seem to be bothering you?" He finished wrapping her leg and put his things away.
She felt her body, letting her mind wake up fully and recognize pain. She winced as she felt a sting from her leg where he was working, "My leg is numb, though I still feel a bit of pain."
He spoke, "That's to be expected. I used a salve that should keep you from feeling too much pain. It will still need time to heal, so you'll have to tolerate it a bit longer."
She smiled, "Oh, ok." She checked for any more pain, "My joints feel stiff and my arms are a little sore, but I'm fine outside of that."
He smiled softly, "Good. That means you've recovered expertly. After how bad your injuries were, we were worried you come out much worst. I'm glad to see you're fully intact and alert. You'll be able to return home soon."
She smiled, then her smiled faded. He noticed, "Is something the matter, miss?"
She looked a little worried, "I... I don't... remember where I'm from. I don't remember anything." She felt a little panicked.
He laid a gentle hand on hers, calming her, "Its alright. Just relax." She nodded, taking a deep breath to calm down.
He spoked softly, "Does your head hurt in any way?"
She thought about it. It did hurt, but only when she tried to remember. She sighed, "Only when I try to remember where I'm from."
His voice was calming, "Alright. It seems you are suffering from a bit of amnesia, but that's ok."
She was surprised, "It is?"
He smiled, "Yes, because amnesia wears away with time and rest. Once you're fully recovered and you get enough rest, your memories will begin to return. Its nothing serious." He pat her hand kindly, "You'll be just fine. You can stay and rest here until your memories return."
"Stay here!?" The voice was followed by a smack and a couple hushing voices.
The person with the girl sighed, "You all might as well come in and introduce yourselves." The girl was surprised as a group of young men walked in. They all had wings, tails, and horns, though most of them were different colors.
One walked over with a kind smile, "I'm so glad to see you're awake, miss." He was a handsome young man with long blond hair in a high ponytail and bright perriwinkle eyes. He wore a blue uniform like a handsome gentleman, and his horns were larger than the others'. His wings and tail were blue.
He smiled at her, "How do you feel?"
She liked how friendly he seemed, "I feel fine."
The young man looked a little concerned as he heard the slight hoarse edge to her voice, "Your voice tells me your throat is still bothering you."
One of the other young men, one with curly white hair, spoke up, "I should think so, seeing as she almost drowned after falling from that cliff." The girl noticed that was the voice who spoke from outside the door a moment earlier. He was also rubbing the back of his head.
The girl was confused, "Drowned? Cliff? What exactly happened to me? How did I get here?"
The blond young man brought a younger boy over, "Actually, it was our wonderful young friend Calvin here who heard you scream out in the woods. He quickly went out and found you. When he brought you here, it was Casper who tended to you. We all helped, but Calvin and Casper are your real heroes."
One of the young man, the most handsome of the group, crossed his arms, "Hey, I went with Calvin to find her. Good thing I did, because he can't track and he sure wasn't going to be much help if he saw her condition. She was half-naked when I found her."
The girl's face went pink, "Half-naked?"
The blond young man sighed, annoyed with the handsome young man, "Thank you for that input, Canice." Canice looked away, blushing slightly.
He turned back to the girl, "Don't worry, we had a very good friend tend to you for that. You're actually wearing her daughter's clothes at this time. We felt dreadful about changing you from those torn, dirty clothes and we certainly didn't have anything proper to have you wear, so we sent for a woman who wouldn't mind helping us out. The downside to being a home of only men." He pat Calvin's head, which was covered by a large white knit cap, "And boy." Calvin smiled.
She smiled, "Well, thank you very much for everything. I do hope I can find a way to somehow repay you."
Another young man, this one with a perfectly identical twin standing at his side, spoke, "No, not at all. We were happy to help." His twin nodded.
The young man who had tended to the girl spoke, "Aren't we forgetting something?" They all looked confused.
Another young man, this one looking older than most of them, spoke up, "Introductions, gentlemen. The poor girl has no idea who we are. At least let her have names to call us by."
She smiled, "I would really appreciate it. I'd like to know the names of my new friends and heroes." Some of them blushed at that.
The blond one spoke, "I'm Camara, the smart one."
The one in the cape smiled kindly, "I am Casper. I do most of the tending here, which is why I was responsible for your care."
One of the twins spoke, "I'm Constantine, and this is my twin brother, Cavell!" Cavell waved. They both were short young men with short, wavy brown hair, medium-toned skin color, and bright gold eyes. Their wings and tails were matching purple. Also, Cavell wore a green cap while Constantine didn't.
The young boy smiled, "I'm Calvin. I'm the youngest here."
The handsome one sighed, running a hand through his hair, which was fixed to spike back while sleek bangs hung in his pale-blue eyes, "I'm Canice, the handsome one." No one even bothered to challenge him on it. She figured it was long decided.
The one who looked older pushed up his glasses, "I'm Cephas. Canice and Calvin are my younger brothers." He had sleek black hair that was pulled back into a short ponytail and sharp blue eyes behind a pair of red glasses with red tinted lenses. He wore a brown jacket over his shoulders with a clip at the neck to keep it from falling off while he wore casual brown clothes under it. His wings and tail matched his brothers'.
Calvin smiled, "He's our rock." Cephas smirked.
Another young man spoke, "I'm Carlos, the easy-going one." He had a dark skin tone, calm grey eyes, and spiky tan hair. He wore a simple grey hoodie and dirty blue jeans with brown designs in them. He had yellow dragon wings and tail.
The next one was very punk-styled as he grinned, "I'm Ceyrs! I'm the lovable one, aside from Calvin, of course!" She liked his friendly, outgoing nature. His skin was the darkest of all of them, his dark red hair was spiked in its own messy style, and his eyes were a deep blue color that seemed to change to purple in the right light. His wings and tail were brown.
Next was a young man with a steely gaze, "I'm Cato. I'm the most knowledgeable of us. I always keep an open mind, even more so than Camara. He's book smart and a good teacher, but I know more street-wise." Cato had brown hair that reached his shoulders and big gold eyes. He was dressed like a skilled fighter with a dagger strapped to his belt. His wings and tail were red, though lighter than Calvin's and his brothers'.
Camara shrugged, "To each his own."
The next one was a strong young man, "I'm Coyle. I'm considered the leader here." He was dressed as if he were from a far away land of deserts instead of like someone living in the woods. She figured he was originally from somewhere else. His short black hair was brushed to one side and his red eyes were powerful and determined. Though, she could see a soft kindness in him. He wasn't just the leader, but the protector. She could imagine it was easy with the large red sword strapped at his side. His wings and tail were a very dark red.
The last one was the determined young man with the white hair, looking only a little older than Calvin, "And I'm Connery, the daring one. I'm the one who keeps the beasts around here in check." He rubbed his chin, "Though, I don't know what it could have been that chased you, but I plan to find it and make sure it doesn't bother you or anyone else again. Ok?" His eyes were a powerful gold, but she could see sincerity in them.
She smiled, "Well, thank you. That's very kind." He blushed, looking away.
Camara smiled, "Well, good to have all the names out of the way. Don't worry if you don't remember them all. Remembering twelve new names at once can be a bit much."
She smiled, "Not at all. You're each different and special in your own ways, so I think it'll be easy remembering them. It's not like I have much for it to compete with, seeing as my memories are gone at the moment." Camara smiled kindly.
She felt a little bad though. They all introduced themselves, but she couldn't give them her name. It felt wrong not to give her introduction too. She thought hard about it.
Casper noticed, "Please don't push yourself. There's no need to.."
She smiled, "Lynette. Lynette! That's my name! I remember it!" She felt so pleased with herself. Casper smiled kindly, glad for her also.
Camara smiled, "Well, look at that. Already getting your memories back. Before too long, you'll be on you way home to your family. Until then, you can stay here and recover."
Cavell spoke, "Uh, yeah, is that a good idea? I mean, a girl living with a bunch of guys in a castle in the woods? That sounds, you know, kinda wrong in a ton of ways."
Connery nodded, "Yeah, what would people think? Her rep would go right out the window."
Contantine shrugged, "Since when do we care what people think?"
Coyle smirked, "And who would even know? We're the only people in these woods. Besides the beasts of course, but what would any of them care?"
Camara sighed, "I'd call a vote, but I don't see the point."
Cerys was surprised, "What? Why not?"
Camara smiled, "Because of a cute little fact you gentlemen continue to forget." He put his fists to his hips, "Its my house. You all are no less guests here than she is. I let you all stay, so I can do the same for her. I'm certainly not going to have her leave just because you gents are a bunch of little boys. It's not like I'm asking you all to share a bed with her!" Some of them blushed at such a comment.
Casper spoke, "She needs time and rest to recover her memory. Once she gets her memory back, we can take her home. Until then, she's better off staying here with us."
Cephas sighed, "Well, I certainly won't argue over this. It's decided. After all, Camara is right; it is his house. Besides, she seems like a nice girl."
Cerys smiled big, "I think it'll be nice having a girl around. I believe in the magic of a "woman's touch"!"
Lynette smiled kindly, "Thank you, all of you. I promise not to be a burden."
Casper smiled, "Its not a burden at all, Miss Lynette."
Cato spoke as he glanced at the others, "For now, some of us have work to do. We need to find out what that creature was that chased her. If its not one of the beasts, than what was it? And is it still here?"
Connery grinned, "Yeah, let's go monster hunting! I need a new challenge!"
Cavell grinned, "I'm in!"
Coyle sighed, "I'd better join you or else one of you are bound to get yourselves hurt." The three of them grinned at him, proving he was probably right. He followed them out.
Calvin smiled at Lynette, "Oh yeah, you must really hungry. It has been a few days."
Lynette realized he was right; she was starving. She smiled, "A little."
Cerys smiled big, "We'll go down and have something made for you! You'll be back on your feet in no time! Come on, Calvin, you can help me!" Calvin hurried after him out of the room.
Camara smiled, "Lucky for you, Cerys is the most decent cook here. Most of us are utterly hopeless in a kitchen. I tried a few times, but I always manage to make a mistake or start a fire. Of course, Dragon-Breeds are immune to fire, but my house is not." Lynette giggled.
Constantine chuckled, "You have a cute laugh."
Lynette blushed, "Oh, um, thank you."
Carlos grinned, "No, that didn't sound weird at all." Constantine shoved him.
Camara sighed, "Knock it off, you two. Why don't you go see to cleaning up one of the guest rooms? I'm sure Casper would like his bed back now than our guest is better."
Lynette looked over at Casper, "This is your bed? I'm sorry. I didn't..."
Casper chuckled, "There's no need to apologize, Miss Lynette. You weren't even conscious to have a say. This was the best place to bring you so I could keep a watch over your recovery."
She smiled, "Somehow, I will repay you all for your kindness."
Camara smiled kindly, "There's really no need. We're happy to help. Now, you get your rest and Cerys and Calvin will be up with something for you to eat. I need to get back to work, so I'll leave you in Casper's capable hands." With that, he turned and left, dragging Canice and Cephas along with him.
Canice groaned, "Please tell me its not another test."
Camara grinned, "When isn't it?" Cephas and Canice groaned as they were led out.
Casper smiled, "Don't worry, you'll get used to them."
Lynette smiled. She really liked all of them. The idea of living with them for a while sounded like fun.

Chapter 1.3 - Lynette

Two days later, Cephas yawned as he walked into the large kitchen, "Cerys, what are you making? It actually smells really..." He was surprised to find a different face at the stove, "Oh, Miss Lynette. What are you doing out of bed?"
She smiled, "I was feeling much better, so I thought I could come cook breakfast. Its the least I can do after everyone being so kind to me."
Cephas walked over and saw the piles of pancakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, biscuits, and hash browns. He felt his mouth watering, "It all looks amazing. You made all of this yourself? I didn't even think we had that much food in this kitchen."
She smiled, "Yes, I was a little worried myself, but it seems you all keep a lot of cooking ingredients and tools here. I was very impressed by what all I could find."
At that moment, Camara and Calvin walked in. Camara was surprised, "Lynette?" He sighed, taking in a deep breath, "It smells incredible in here."
Calvin smiled, "Yeah, the whole castle smells like food now!"
Which explained the entrance of several others. Connery grinned, "Whoa! Look at all the food!"
Cato smiled, "My, you're quite the cook, Miss Lynette."
Lynette smiled, blushing from all the compliments, "Thank you. I've been getting a bit of my memory back, though nothing personal. Just little things, like cooking. I must have cooked a lot where I came from, because I know how to make all kinds of different things."
Cerys looked over all the food, "Amazing. You'll have to teach me. It'd be a shame if I can't cook something as good as this once your gone. They'll never let me heard the end of it."
She smiled, "Sure! I'd be happy to teach you! Though, I'm sure you do just fine on your own."
Calvin grabbed the plates while Cephas grabbed the utensils. Everyone grabbed a seat while Camara helped Cerys bring the large plates of food to the long dinning table. Lynette smiled to see them working so well together.
Connery hurried over to the kitchen door and yelled up through the castle, "Guys, come eat or you miss out!!" Lynette could hear the feet running for them. Connery hurried back over to the table as the twins rushed in, followed by Carlos and Coyle. Casper walked in after them with Canice, who was using a hand mirror to fix his hair.
Casper saw the food and smiled, "What's the occasion?" Canice looked from his mirror, amazed.
Lynette smiled, "Think of it as one of my ways of repaying you all for being so kind and letting me stay here. I want to help out around here in return for my stay." Camara was about to tell her she didn't need to, but she spoke up, "I really want to. I feel awful not to do something useful while I'm here. Please?"
Camara thought about it. Casper smiled as he made his plate, "It would help her recovery to move around and get more familiar with things." He winked at Lynette, which made her smile.
Camara rubbed his chin, "Well, I suppose I can't turn down such wonderful meals. And the courtyard and gardens could use a little work. Being Dragon-Breeds, we're not too handy with plants. It would be nice to see the gardens in bloom like they used to." He sighed with a smile, "Alright, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let you help out a little bit. This old castle could use a woman's touch.  Just promise you won't over do it. I would hate to see you hurt yourself."
Lynette smiled, "Of course! Thank you!"

Some time later, Lynette stepped out into the courtyard behind the castle. It was very simple and neat, though no flowers grew in the flower beds. Lynette smiled, "This could be fun. I wonder if I had a garden where I came from." She walked over to a smaller garden and started pulling out the weeds with a pair of gloves Carlos lent to her.
As she worked, she heard someone yelling for her. She stood up and looked to the door as Coyle hurried out. When he saw her, he sighed with relief. He walked over, "There you are."
She was curious, "Is something wrong?"
He sighed, "I couldn't find you in the castle, so I was worried you'd wandered off by yourself." He looked a bit serious, "You must understand that these woods are exceptionally dangerous if one isn't careful. Many different beasts live out here. I would hate for any of them to bring you harm."
She smiled, "Oh, I see."
He was thoughtful, "I need you to agree not to leave the castle alone for any reason ever. Understand? You should always have one or two of us fighters with you if you ever leave the castle, like Cato or myself or even Connery. We know the woods best and we're familiar with fighting any beasts off if they get difficult. The more of us with you, the better. The beasts don't usually enter the grounds, but it would still be wise to have someone nearby even when you're out here."
She smiled with a nod, "I promise. I won't leave the castle alone and I'll make sure someone's nearby when I come out here." He smiled, glad she understood. She smiled up at him, "Well, would you mind staying with me while I do some weeding then?"
He smiled with a polite bow, "It would be my pleasure."

After the garden weeding was finished, Lynette followed Coyle to his room. He smiled, "I'm sure I kept some seeds somewhere in here." He pulled open the doors and led the way inside.
She gasped in amazement as she saw the room. There were items from all over to world decorating the room. There were maps all over the walls, chests full of strange cloths and objects, and other strange items in glass cases and cabinets. Some were priceless jewelry and large gemstones, extravagant fabrics of silver and gold, and even powerful suits of armor from the furthest reaches of the world.
She watched Coyle search through a smaller chest on top of a large one, "The seeds should be in here. I know I kept them."
She looked around the room again, "Where did you get all this, Coyle?"
He simply smiled at her, "I like to collect things." He pulled out a bag and sat it on his bed, which was covered by beautiful blankets that looked handmade.
He pulled small seed packets and sacks from the bag, each with a name on the front. Lynette picked up one that said "Forget-Me-Nots". She giggled, "Maybe if I plant these, I'll get my memories back faster."
He smiled, "Perhaps. These I bought from a princess in a faraway land who said they hold magical properties. I don't remember what she said made it work or what exactly they do, but maybe we can find out once they grow."
Lynette felt excited, "That sounds wonderful! I can't wait!"
He put the bags back in the larger bag and handed it to her, "Here. You can take all of them. Like Camara said, Dragon-Breeds aren't good for gardening, being natural fire hazards ourselves. I think you'll make far more use of them than I ever could."
She excepted the bag, "Thank you, Coyle. I'll grow every single kind and make the courtyard as beautiful as it can be. Maybe some of the other flowers are magical too!"
He chuckled at her excitement, "Maybe. You'll have to take good care of them to find out. I look forward to seeing what you grow." Lynette smiled.
One of my original stories to test my writing skills. I decided I needed a bigger audience than just my family for my actual novels. I always get nervous about posting my novels online because I worry someone will steal my ideas, but these ones aren't my best and they'll probably never get published, so I am willing to take the risk. I am hoping to get some feedback to help me see if my work is any good and maybe even create a name here on DA for when I ever do get my books published.

It would really help my future as a novelist, so please help me out by commenting.

A bit of a "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" type of story. Every name used in this story is a name with a meaning that applies to the character. Its part of a fairy-tales series I'm doing, where I write new twists to old stories I heard a lot as a kid. The names with meanings are a concept I do for that series, only using names that mean something about the character. =) This one is one of my personal favorites, so d
o tell me what you think, what you like, what you don't like, and maybe what you'd like to see happen with it. Anything is very helpful! =D (Big Grin)
